Your Urology Needs:
No longer a wait in East Contra Costa County
“Early detection of prostate
cancer is the key, followed by
multiple treatment options,
all of which will soon be
available to those who live
in this community.”
—Sabri Sen, M.D., F.A.C.S.
A team of highly specialized urologists recently moved into East Contra
Costa County, and since then, their office phones have been ringing constantly. It’s
apparent to the hundreds of patients they have treated in the past couple of months
that change is afoot. Sabri Sen, M.D., F.A.C.S., and Jonathan Chin, M.D., are fulfilling
a great need for specialized urology services in the community—and they’re not your
average doctors.
Stay on ‘This Side’ for Care
For years, urology emergencies have been difficult for local residents to handle.
Residents couldn’t always find the specialized care they needed on “this side of the
hill”—in the Willow Pass corridor, which includes Antioch, Brentwood, Discovery
Bay, Oakley and Pittsburg. According to Sutter Delta Medical Center’s Emergency
Director, Jeffrey Leinen, M.D., patients had to head to medical centers in Walnut
Creek or Concord for the kind of specialized care that requires a urology department.
“A huge percentage of emergencies that come into Sutter Delta are urological, and
without the proper consultation and treatment options, we were left as frustrated
as the patients,” says Dr. Leinen. It all pointed to a growing problem that needed
treatment.
